Custom painting

I did my first custom painting this week for a client who is also a dear friend.  She gave me free rein to paint whatever I wished and this is what I wished.  We are just finishing her guest room and bath (new posts to come shortly) and I used the palette we established when we chose the gorgeous rug for this room. I used some of the actual wall paint right in the middle of this canvas, and repeated the chocolate brown from the lush silk drapes we just hung.  I also wanted to pull in some of the terra-cotta and gold details from the rug.  Notice the beautiful flowing swirls in the rug design.  I wanted to echo that feeling of movement in this painting.  I was delighted by the results and I think my friend was as well.  What a happy little painting in an amazing restful room!
