Dramatic Modern Kitchen

I love this kitchen.  It is spacious, dramatic, highly functional, and has gorgeous mountain views.  I had a wonderful time working with the amazing people who pulled this all together.  Our contractor L.B. Greene and Sons worked for months installing wiring, plumbing, flooring, and lighting for us.  The cabinets were built by George Lamons and his team, and were drawn by Donna Snover of Design Phase.  The inspirations for this design were the stunning high wood ceilings and beams and the beautiful piece of Alaskan White granite that the homeowner chose for the island.

This photo was taken before island lighting was installed.

Still waiting for the refrigerator and a little wiring to be finished here.

Here you can see our lighting challenge.  We had skylights, beams, a wood ceiling that we really could not disturb, and three dreadful track lights from the 1980's.

Here is our crack lighting team trying to figure out how on earth this complicated dropped track system with LED pendants and floods goes together.  You really do not want to know any of the details of this installation!  It was quite the hurdle, but it looks amazing now.

This is a great shot of Mom and Dad's command center area for laptops and running the household.  There is a printer pullout to the left of the knee space and doors behind the knee space to hide all the electrical cord and cables.  Take a look at that gorgeous green glass tile backsplash.  You'll notice here as well that we used the granite countertops only on the island, and instead used quartz countertops around the perimeter of the kitchen for a less busy look.

The pretty brackets under the island were such a nice finishing detail.

 During construction.

I love the day the cabinets arrive.  So exciting!  You can see our paint color dilemma on the rear wall.

I think this lovely kitchen was worth all the hard work.

I don't have a before photo of this kitchen, but it had white laminate cabinets just like these in the adjoining laundry room.  We decided to keep them in this room and replace the countertops, backsplash, sink, ceramic tile floor, and lighting.

Laundry will not be as much a chore in this pretty room!
