Bed and Breakfast Guest Room

I had the opportunity this year to redo this lovely and serene guest room for a client who is also a dear friend.  We first did this room about 15 years ago and it was really looking dated.  The striped wallpaper was stripped and the walls painted this soft lovely shade of blue-gray. We wanted to make feel and look like a gracious bed and breakfast, and we are very happy with the finished rooms.

We chose a beautiful ivory quilt for the bed and used both gold and blue sheets.  We found this fun embroidered fabric in Bristol, TN at The Fabric Gallery and had this bolster made especially for this bed.

We had a pleated custom bedskirt made of a beautiful brown damask that complements the handmade wool rug beautifully.  The palette for the whole room was taken from this wonderful rug.  It gives the room so much personality!

Simple brown silk dupioni drapes make the window seem much larger than it really is.  This sweet little desk belongs to my client's husband.  The drawer are still full of items from his childhood.  And I painted the little tree painting above the desk just for this corner.

We replaced the drawers and added granite tops to the dormer window in the bedroom and in the adjoining bathroom.  A brown dupioni silk shade with beadwork on the edge completes this vignette.  So simple, but so very pretty.

We completely redid this tiny bath in a vintage look.  We wanted it to look as if it had always looked exactly like this, and we made sure that all of our choices were appropriate to the age of the house.  You can see the entire post of this bathroom here.

Hallway leading to bedroom.

Here are some of the before photos of these rooms. Not sure why the before photos are blurry, but still you can see the changes.  It is an amazing transformation from a nice, but dated space to peaceful and calm, yet still modern space in a very old home.  What a privilege to work on such a lovely project!

Trying paint colors over wallpaper.  We did eventually strip the paper.

Old tile is down, backer board is installed, and we are trying paint colors.  And trying not to break the mirror!

New bathroom floor is installed and work on the wall tile is progressing.

Oh, my.  All the old tile had to come out, but we saved and recoated this fantastic little bathtub.

Trying paint colors.
Finally finished!
