Fun painting class!

Last night, I got to take a really fun painting class with two of my dearest friends.  There is no doubt why we are friends.  We are three peas in a pod.

We drove from Johnson City to Bristol, TN and spent the evening at Blowfish Emporium, laughing, telling stories, having a glass of wine, and painting canvases.  We all started with the same inspiration image, and ended up with three wildly different paintings.  It was so much fun, and we all went home secretly thinking that ours was the best!  It was great to have the time together and to bring home a tangible reminder of our fun evening.  You should do it, too.

We accidentally booked our class on Family Race Night in Bristol.  State Street is closed from end to end and race activities (which we didn't understand at all) were ensuing.  We left in a happy glow of fun and creativity, and got stuck trying to get back home by a parade of trucks that haul race cars that went on, and on, and on.  It was kind of like being in an alternate universe for about 20 minutes.  We had quite literally never seen anything quite like it.  Our favorite part of the parade was the giant Food City Shopping Cart.  Please click the link so you can enjoy it, too!

Closeup of the cool texture that a paper towel left in the wet paint when I was doing the sky in my painting.  Fun technique!
