Traditional modern kitchen
Nearly finished!
What a wonderful place to organize the family. There is a file drawer on the lower right, trash on the lower left, a place for all Mom's cookbooks, and a cubby for each child in the family for all the school paper work that comes and goes daily. (Mom also sneaks treats in there!)
A beautiful open cabinet to the left of the sink window for pretty things.
Clearly I need to take a few more photos of this finished kitchen! We were literally hours away from finishing when I took these.
This family of 6 loved the way the kitchen was laid out as it functioned well for them, but it was about 13 years old and was showing major signs of wear. The soffits holding the recessed lighting were heavy and oppressive, and limited the height of the new cabinetry. I called the "Dream Team" at Eagle Ridge Designs, and Ron Sterbenz had his guys tear those soffits out and replace the whole ceiling for us in about 3 days. What a huge difference! Donna Snover, my fabulous cabinet lady, was able to take the cabinets all the way to the ceiling and give us so much more storage.
It was very important to the homeowner to save the wallpaper that she loved, and the guys were able to do that for her beautifully. We chose traditional maple cabinets, quartz countertops, and a simple tile backsplash with just a little bit of bling. Be sure to notice that the sink is now in at an angle instead of directly under the window. That adds length to the prep area at the right of the sink. We kept the original appliances and added a panel on the side of the fridge that really gives a pretty finished look. The whole effect suits the house perfectly, and the family loves it everyday!
