My favorite kitchen....before photos

These are the before photos to my favorite kitchen so far! This home is lovely, built in 1928, but the kitchen clearly had not been updated since the 1960's. Well, some, but not too much updating. So we began to plan. And plan. And plan. We planned for months. We planned so long that I forgot the plans!

We talked to everyone we could about structure, design, and construction. The tricky part was that since the house is very old and stone, the footprint needed to stay the same. We REALLY didn't want to break into those stone walls. Plus, we wanted the kitchen to feel like it belonged to the house and wasn't a brand-new, sparkly addition. And here was the list of what we needed to fit into the space....

  • Built-in Sub Zero fridge
  • Microwave
  • Really nice gas range with hood
  • Dishwasher
  • Cappuccino machine
  • Wine cooler
  • Island
  • Dog kennel
  • Table for 2 to 4 people
  • Cool knife storage for collection
Yikes.

I will point out a few details we wanted to change. The wallpaper goes without saying! It was pretty, but dated.

The fridge was built in and needed to stay in the same spot.

We wanted to get rid of the dropped ceiling but still have recessed cans if we could.

Scalloped trim over window and fluorescent light had to go.
